Joe Schwarcz, Director, McGill Office for Science and Society, will address the role of humour in health and moderate a panel discussion. Joining Dr. Schwarcz will be Barbel Knauper, assistant prof, Dept of Psychology, and Antonia Maioni, Director, McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. The panel will discuss issues ranging from mental attitude and weight loss to how the public views the health care system today.

Can foods really help fight insomnia? Act as antidotes? Protect against bad luck? Learn the truth behind some of these "old wives' tales." Over the last 30 years, scientific studies have shown a strong relationship between diet, brain function and behaviour. Speaker: Dietetics and Human Nutrition professor and author Louise Thibault. On the menu: aperitif (a bit of history), entrée (the brain, centre of temperament and intelligence), plat de résistance (nutrients that influence equilibrium in the brain) and, finally, dessert (several conclusions).
