Yesterday morning, our colleague Dr. Charmaine Nelson, Professor of Art History at McGill, published an article in the Huffington Post exploring the colonial roots of contemporary racism in Canada (http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/charmaine-nelson/modern-racismcanada_b_1482...). A few hours later, Dr. Nelson received an intimidating e-mail from a white supremacist organization based in British Columbia.

As a celebration of the 60 years of Opera McGill, the Schulich School of Music late last month presented a run of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus in the Monument National. The opening was a big success, with a fresh array of voices, exquisite Art-Nouveau sets by Vincent Lefèvre and brilliant costumes by Ginette Grenier.
On February 20, 2016, Prof. Robert Mellin received a Built Heritage Award from the City of St. John’s, Newfoundland, for the renovation of 38 Hayward Avenue. The low-pitch biscuit box roof shape of the existing house was retained, and a new bedroom was constructed above an existing detached garage. A second-storey insulated link or bridge connects the new bedroom to the second floor hallway of the house.
