ECE professor Michael G. Rabbat has received The Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in the Assistant Professor category. Prof. Rabbat received the award from Principal Suzanne Fortier at November 25th Fall Convocation Ceremony.
The entire Department wishes to congratulate Prof. Rabbat for receiving this award. Well done!

24 year old violinist Yolanda Bruno was named the 2013 Grand Prize Winner at the Standard Life OSM Competition this past weekend. Her prize includes a performance with the OSM under the direction of Edward Gardner on December 11, at the Maison symphonique, recitals and performances across Canada and South America, as well as broadcasts and recordings at the Radio-Canada studios and residencies at the Banff and Orford Arts Centers.
Schulich student Emily Belvedere was awarded a prize for the best performance of a Canadian work for harp.
Every year, sudents in Landscape Design FMTP 097 are required to put together a photo display on a theme. Each display consists of 3 photos. This year, students must photograph plants in one of the following themes: containers (pots, window boxes…); ground surfaces (walkways, paths…); vertical surfaces (fences, trellises…); seats (chairs, benches…).

While much attention is now paid to personalities of incoming central bankers, far less attention is paid to debating central banks' mandates in light of the unusual fiscal and financial intermediary roles they have been fulfilling since 2008.
The crisis revealed institutional voids that the central banks filled quickly. Such ventures by central banks have been tolerated in the past too: there is nothing new about quantitative easing (QE).
