2008 Canadian Constitutional Affairs Conference

Thu, 2008-01-17 (All day) - Sat, 2008-01-19 (All day)
Loews Le Concorde Hotel, Quebec City : Loews Le Concorde Hotel, Quebec City

Organized by a group of students from the Laval and McGill faculties of law, this conference aims to bring together constitutional experts and student delegations from all of Canada's law faculties to debate and discuss the evolution of the Canadian Constitution. Inspired by a similar event held at Université Laval in 1961, it will mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City. The goal of the event is to create an environment in which students from across the country will add their voices to the debate, while benefiting from the input of their peers and prominent members of Canadian society with expertise in constitutional affairs. By integrating the experiences of past constitutional actors with the fresh perspectives of emerging law school students, we hope to create an environment that will produce interesting and provocative ideas -- not just for the conference participants, but for the country as a whole. Speakers include McGill Law professors Nicholas Kasirer, Colleen Sheppard and Rod Macd
