Sun, 2007-03-18 16:00
Redpath Museum : 859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest Montreal Quebec Canada , H3A 0C4

Agnes Varda, France, 2000: Intimate, picaresque inquiry into French life as lived by the country's poor and its provident, as well as by the film's director. The aesthetic, political and moral point of departure for Varda is gleaners, individuals who pick at already-reaped fields for the odd potato, the leftover turnip.

Super science documentary films - 'Microcosmos'

Sun, 2007-03-25 16:00
Redpath Museum : 859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest Montreal Quebec Canada , H3A 0C4

Claude Nuridsany, 1996: Using revolutionary cameras, the directors of this French film (with minimal English-language narration) have made an amazing chronicle of the insect world. There are at least a dozen fascinating, memorable images, and the carnage is held to a minimum. Some favorites: a caterpillar traffic jam, a frog's bout with a rainstorm, a bird that turns into Godzilla for a bunch of ants. Then there's the snail mating scene. All accompanied by an award-winning musical score.
