The second book for this semester's McGill Reads book club is A.B. Yehoshua's "The Lover." Critical of Israeli society and the way Zionism has been distorted, this novel was both highly controversial and a best-seller in Israel. Our lecturer: Yael Halevi-Wise, assistant professor, Dept of English.

The third book for this semester's McGill Reads book club is Italo Calvino's "The Baron in the Trees," a novel that focuses on a young 18th-century Italian nobleman, who rebels against parental authority by climbing into the trees and remaining there for the rest of his life. Our lecturer: Eugenio Bolongaro, PhD'97, assistant professor, Dept of Italian Studies.
