The Institute for Health and Social Policy is now recruiting students for its Fall 2014 Student Programs. Open to both graduate and undergraduate students, the IHSP Internship program is a 14 week on-campus work experience opportunity that includes training in translating research into policy. The Research Fellowship Program is a year-long opportunity for outstanding graduate students whose current or proposed dissertation topics are interdisciplinary and connected to understanding how social conditions impact population health and welfare. Awards are offered for both programs.
Along Highway 401 and over the Ontario border, Tyler Maxey and some of his MBA classmates at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management in Montreal are also learning by doing. Their modus operandi: investing other people's money. Since 2008, students have been running a registered fund management firm called Desautels Capital Management that has about $3 million in assets.

Dr. Bergman becomes a member of the board of directors of the Institut National d'Excellence en Santé et en Services Sociaux (INESSS)
INESSS is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. On February 26, 2014, the Council of Ministers proceeded with the appointments of Mr. Howard Bergman, Chair of the McGill Department of Family Medicine, and Mr. Robert Maguire, specialist in community health at the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux du Bas-Saint-Laurent.
Dr. Krist Muis, Associate Professor, in the the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology recently received the Richard E. Snow Award from the American Psychological Association, divison 15 (Educational Psychology).
The Richard E. Snow Award is given to an individual who has made a significant early career contribution.

Mediation at McGill (mediationmcgill.org), a community mediation initiative run by law students, recently received a generous donation of $2,500 to support its activities. The gift was made by Me Eric Cadl, Me Douglas Mitchell (BCL’88, LLB’88), Me Odette Jobin-Laberge, the Hon. Louise Otis, and Me Sylvain Lussier, five Montreal practitioners who are among the authors of the book Recours et procédures en appel, which received the Walter Owen Prize.
