The 2013 Gairdner National Program Lecture will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre of the Neuro.

Dr. Stephen Elledge, 2013 Canada Gairdner International Laureate of Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, will deliver his lecture, Genetic approaches to cancer, as part of the 2013 Gairdner National Program. Stephen Elledge is being recognized "For elucidation of the DNA damage response as a signaling network that controls DNA repair and genomic stability with profound implications for cancer and other diseases".

Dr. Gary Ruvkun, 2008 Canada Gairdner International Laureate of Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA will also deliver a lecture. Dr. Ruvkun’s talk is entitled, "Eukaryotic Pathways that surveil conserved proteins for inhibition by microbial toxins & couple to defense". Dr. Ruvkun was recognized in 2008 for his research related to "the discovery and characterization of micro RNA's, important in the regulations of gene function."
