The value of your donation to Centraide
why your donation matters
Your donation, in your community, helping your neighbours
It’s not easy to ask colleagues for money. And it can feel a bit awkward to be asked, in part because we might feel disconnected from the end result. For those already familiar with the important work of the 360 Centraide-funded agencies throughout Greater Montreal, you already have a good idea of how they meet the needs of so many Montrealers struggling with poverty. For those who may not know, we invite you to visit the online directory of Centraide agencies. You can type in your postal code and get a listing of the agencies in your community that reach out to families, youth at risk, the elderly, new Canadians, and people living with disabilities who simply do not have resources of their own to get through a difficult situation. These are the people your gift will help.
The value of your donation to Centraide
By making regular payroll deductions over the course of the year, you can make a big difference in the lives of Montrealers in dire need and you can do it in a way that meets your own budget. We hope you will consider giving to the best of your ability. Here are some examples of what your payroll deduction can do:

A community cafeteria can serve 35 meals to needy people. This basic food assistance, coupled with the actions of an on-site community worker, helps identify isolated and at-risk people and gives them a path towards integration into the community. Help us nourish hope!

Three children can go to their neighbourhood thrift store to get what they need to go back to school: a school bag, basic supplies (pencils, erasers, notebooks, glue, scissors, coloured pencils, etc.), a lunch box, and food for a week. Help kids go back to school with their heads held high!
Thanks to your $260 gift to Centraide or $10.83 X 24 pays
A street worker can spend 17 hours with young people in a disadvantaged neighbourhood to prevent violence and drug addiction and limit the appeal of street gangs. These young people are referred to centres where they take part in artistic, cultural, and educational group activities. Help kids be kids!
Thanks to your $390 gift to Centraide or $16.25 X 24 pays
Five young people who have been temporarily suspended from school can receive support from a specialized worker for almost a full week and participate in stimulating educational workshops. A negative situation is therefore transformed into a more positive experience that promotes the desire to stay in school. Help them discover that education is the solution!

A man in distress with suicidal tendencies can take part in a 16-week group therapy program with 8 other participants supervised by specialized therapists. Through this program, he has a safe environment in which to share his suffering and fears, analyze his situation, and gradually envision possible solutions. Help people rediscover the light at the end of the tunnel!

A mother’s helper can offer aid and support for six weeks to an immigrant family with a newborn baby experiencing difficulties. The family is given respite along with advice on baby care and information on available services in the neighbourhood. You can help a family get started on the right foot!
The Leadership Challenge Grant Fund was created in 2011, thanks to an investment from 20 companies and organizations, for the purpose of encouraging new Leader donors to step forward and existing Leaders to increase their donations. This initiative inspired donors to new heights of generosity: 7,633 Leaders (personal donation of $1,000 or more) and Major Donors (personal donation of $10,000 or more) gave a total of $20.5 million. That represents 35% of the total amount raised during Campaign 2011.
How it works
New Leaders
The Leadership Challenge Grant Fund matches the donations of all new Leaders.
Existing Leaders
The Leadership Challenge Grant Fund matches any annual increase of 10% or more in the donations of existing Leaders.
