myFuture is a password-protected tool for McGill Law students and
recent alumni. Access is given for up to three years after graduation. Be
sure to check the CDO bulletin boards at the Faculty of Law (NCDH 4th floor
& OCDH basement) for details on how to access the page, or
contact the Career Development Office.
The myFuture job search tool has a site specifically directed towards law students as well as a site that is directed to the entire McGill student body that is run through the Career Planning Service (CaPS) of McGill.
Once you log on to myFuture you will be greeted by a page of announcements about upcoming deadlines and events. These are highlighted announcements that provide a summary of only some of the exciting opportunities and items of interest available on the site.
On the top of the myFuture home page there are several tabs indicating the type of information available on the site:
Provides a listing of your own personal information, including contact information and student status.
Allows you to upload your résumé and cover letter in order to apply for jobs directly through the website. Previously uploaded documents are also listed.
Furthermore, under the Career Resources tab within the Documents tab, you will find a listing of databases of legal career search engines and fellowship/scholarship opportunities.
Note: myFuture allows students to upload only up to 10 documents at a time. If you are applying for more than a few jobs via myFuture, you will need to delete documents after a few applications, in order to upload further documents for your next application submissions.
The jobs tab allows you to search for work opportunities and refine your search by major/concentration, industry, keywords (i.e. name of organization, type of position, etc.). New jobs are posted daily. It is advised that you check the site regularly to see up-to-date postings.
Lists all the employers who post jobs on the myFuture website. Searches can be narrowed by industry or keywords. You can also bookmark certain employers as 'favorites' in order to keep a closer eye on their employment opportunities and events over time.
This tab helps you keep track of your applications for on-campus interviews. If you have been selected for an interview, you will be able to see your times/dates.
The events tab lists dates, locations and times of on-campus and off-campus Career Fairs, Information Sessions and CDO workshops, panels and events. Some of the events require registration in advance. This can be done directly through myFuture.
The calendar tab allows you to view events on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual calendar. This helps you keep track of career development related events offered by the CDO and the larger McGill Community.
Access myFuture to search jobs, employer information, internships, fellowship and scholarship applications, and more, specifically for McGill Law students.
