Online Foreign Evaluations (New rule for Canadians in 2011)

The Foreign Evaluation for 2011 candidates can be filled in April (before April 30th), at the same time as the rest of the application. We are told that this form existed before, but that it was not online and not always required for Canadians. We are also told that it will not change the way the NY Bar views Canadian students.

As per students planning on writing the exam in 2012 (and the following years), the form can be filled online during the previous fall (which is the recommended time). The CDO has been informed that a lot of what is asked for does not apply to Canadians, that our students can assume that they will be approved (except if they spent a lot of time on exchange in a non Common Law jurisdiction).

You will receive an email after you fill in the Foreign Evaluation. Transcripts will have to be sent by June 15th 2011 for the July 2011 exam.

Finally, the CDO has been informed that, except for that Foreign Evaluation form to be filled, McGill students will be treated like students coming from ABA-approved schools.
