A McGill University/UQAM research team has discovered that 6-month-old babies enjoy listening to each other more than listening to adults. This preference for baby babble appears to support crucial processes involved in learning to talk and could lead to new ways to help infants with difficulties in language development.

Her contributions will fund numerous initiatives including new student excellence awards and an annual prize in vocal performance. In recognition of her support, McGill’s new music building has been named the Elizabeth Wirth Music Building.
