Making History Together: Message from the Campaign Co-Chairs

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Making History, our Campaign McGill newsletter. As you turn the pages, you will read the stories of some of the many generous and loyal supporters who are helping McGill have a real impact on the world. Thanks to the efforts of countless donors and volunteers, we are truly making history together.

Launched October 18, 2007, Campaign McGill: History in the Making has a global vision to address some of the most important challenges of our era. After a comprehensive evaluation of McGill’s strengths, five areas were selected as the focus of the Campaign: advancing health and wellness, building global prosperity, furthering the next generation of science and technology, creating environmental sustainability, and strengthening culture and civil society.

Campaign McGill will allow us to attract and retain the world’s best students and professors, who will use their talents and passion to advance these five key areas. The competition for these top minds has never been fiercer, as universities, the private sector and governments around the globe recognize that skilled, smart people are the foundation of today’s knowledge society. And as a result, private giving has never been more essential. Campaign McGill will help ensure McGill remains the destination of choice for the best and the brightest, and it will help us give them the resources they need for their vital work.

No doubt about it: the resounding support to date for Campaign McGill is further proof of our strength as a post-secondary institution and as an international community. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Principal Heather Munroe-Blum, we are off to a great start toward achieving the Campaign’s high ambitions for teaching, for research and for impact on a global scale. We are immensely proud of our McGill family of supporters, who are rallying together to ensure McGill continues to be ranked as one of the world’s top universities. Thank you for your generous support–and for continuing that support.
