Best in the West

EVERY YEAR, MORE THAN 1,600 STUDENTS from British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan receive letters of acceptance from McGill. For most, it is a dream come true. But for many, the excitement is tempered with concern about how they will support themselves while away from home.

McGILL’S VISION FOR THE FUTURE is that no qualified student will be prevented from studying here because of financial constraints. Students are at the heart of any university’s mission, and a healthy student awards program allows talented students to flourish.

THANKS TO A GENEROUS GIFT OF $1 MILLION from McGill graduates Dr. Richard Walls, PhD’78, and Mrs. Carolina J. Walls, BSc’85, the University has established the Best in the West Student Awards Program to support undergraduates from the three Western Canadian provinces. The Walls encourage McGill friends and alumni to support Best in the West, with the ultimate goal of creating a $5-million program.

SUPPORT THE BEST IN THE WEST. Worldwide competition for the very best students is at an all-time high. To remain competitive, McGill must provide financial aid that matches or exceeds that offered by other elite institutions. Please consider establishing your own Best in the West student award to link your legacy to McGill’s future.

ALL GIFTS WILL COUNT toward Campaign McGill: History in the Making and its goal to support tomorrow’s leaders as they drive debate, spark new discoveries and keep McGill at the forefront of excellence and innovation for generations to come.
