What You Can Do

Tell the government how you feel | Word of mouth | Saving money

If we're to have any chance of convincing the government to change course, Quebec's university communities will need to speak loudly, clearly and with a united voice. We need students, faculty, staff members, alumni and parents to stand together for high-quality education, both here at McGill and across Quebec.

Tell the government how you feel

Word of mouth

  • If you are a student, talk to people in leadership positions on campus: the chair of your department, the dean of your faculty and your McGill student associations. Ask them what they're doing about the cuts, and what you can do to help.
  • You can also tell larger organizations how you feel, like the Fédération étudiante universitaire du Québec (FEUQ) (feuq [at] feuq [dot] qc [dot] ca), and the Table de concertation étudiante du Québec (TaCEQ) (sg [at] taceq [dot] org).
  • If you are a staff member and belong to an employee group, make your views known to them and to any provincial or national associations to which the McGill group is affiliated. Talk to your chair, dean or unit head as well.
  • Debate the issue with your family, circle of friends or business contacts, and encourage them to contact the government as well.

Saving money

  • Cliché though it sounds, in this desperate situation, every little bit really does help. Now more than ever, we need to call upon every member of the McGill community to turn off the lights when they head home for the day, cut back on printing costs, and generally reduce their spending as much as possible.
