IRVING LUDMER RESEARCH & TRAINING BUILDING

Please note that the Department of Biochemistry's 8th and 9th floors in the McIntyre Building are being renovated and should be ready by the summer of 2011. We have been relocated to different buildings. Dr. Thomas and the Administrative Office are in the Ludmer Building, 1033 Pine Avenue, Room 209, Montreal, Quebec H3A 1A1.

Where we are

We are located on the 8th and 9th floors of the McIntyre Medical Sciences Building, situated at the foot of Mount Royal with a picturesque view of the city of Montreal and the park.

Research in biochemistry

Currently, our Department has 34 full-time academic staff members, 18 Associate members, as well as 13 Adjunct members. There are 15 active research laboratories on site; an additional 10 laboratories are located in several research centres within 10 minutes walking distance.

Collectively, the Department is engaged in teaching a dynamic and rigorous undergraduate curriculum, and in training over 140 graduate students.

Our interests

Major areas are cell and molecular biology, regulation of protein and nucleic acid synthesis, gene expression regulation, neurobiology, enzymology and membrane structure & function.
