Claims submission deadline March 31, 2012

Claims for health and dental expenses incurred in 2011 must be submitted to Manulife no later than March 31, 2012. Please note that claims received by Manulife after March 31, 2012 will not be accepted. If mailing your claims, please allow sufficient time for them to reach Manulife. You can also drop off your claims at Manulife's offices at 2000 Mansfield, 2nd floor.

SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT!

Have your health and dental claims automatically paid to your personal bank account. Register on Manulife's website Select "Plan Member" and enter your plan contract number. On the Plan Member Secure Site login page you'll need your plan contract number and your plan member certificate number – all found on your benefits wallet card.

TRAVEL TO CUBA

Cuban travel requirements have now been relaxed and provincial health insurance is now sufficient as proof of medical coverage for Canadian travelers to the country. There is therefore no need for plan members to obtain written confirmation of coverage.

Mandatory Participation in Supplemental Health Plan

Quebec legislation requires that you, your spouse and children must be covered under a group health insurance plan providing at least drug coverage if you are under age 65 and are eligible for coverage under that plan.

You can refuse participation in the McGill Health Plan only if you provide proof (Confirmation of Alternative Health Coverage [.pdf]) of alternative health coverage (e.g. through your spouse or through membership in a professional order or association). Submit this proof to the HR Service Centre.

Provincial Plan Replacement Coverage

Quebec requires that new arrivals from outside the country, or returning Canadians who no longer qualify for provincial health benefits, satisfy a waiting period of up to 3 months. McGill University offers health benefits coverage under the Provincial Plan Replacement Coverage during this waiting period.
