Since 1989, the Beatty Memorial Lectures have been supporting "Beatty Talks" organized by one or more McGill academic units. Like the major Beatty lectures, Beatty Talks are public presentations of a scholarly nature by international lecturers. Also like the major lectures, the Beatty Talks involve other activities by the lecturer, such as departmental seminars. Beatty Talks have been organized by units across the University.
Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded on a competitive basis by the Beatty Memorial Lectures Committee at its meetings in April and November. Applicatants must include a completed application form, a budget, the curriculum vitae of the lecturer and, ideally, a covering letter outlining the reasons and plans for the proposed lecture and visit. Applicants must demonstrate in the budget that they have obtained financial support from their own units and/or other sources. Applications involving collaboration between two or more units are strongly encouraged.
Deadlines for applications:
Applications received by March 31 will be reviewed at the
committee's April meeting
Applications received by October 31 will be reviewed at the
committee's November meeting
