Sparkling Mateus named Team MVP as Martlet volleyball award winners announced

Kaiva Mateus of Montreal West, Que., has been named most valuable player on the McGill University women's volleyball team, announced head coach Rachèle Béliveau. Other team awards were presented to Marie-Christine Lapointe (most improved player) of St. Jean sur Richelieu, Que., Kristina Pavlovic (most sportmanlike player) of Richmond, B.C., and Yasmeen Dawoodjee (rookie of the year) of Ottawa.

McGill's Plante named RSEQ athlete of the week

Geneviève Plante of the McGill women's volleyball team and Karl De Grandpré, a volleyball player with the Laval Rouge et Or, have been selected athletes of the week by the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, for the period ending Mar. 4, 2012.
