The McGill Women’s Lacrosse was founded in 1997. For over a decade, we were a varsity team competing each fall in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) league. In 2010, we were reclassified as a competitive club team and no longer are allowed to compete as an OUA team. Currently, we compete against other teams in non-league games during the fall semester.
The team consists of 18-22 players who have competed at the high school level prior to McGill. Past playing experience is not a requirement. However, due to the competitiveness of our league and for safety reasons, individuals with limited or no experience will likely have minimal game time until skills are acquired.
The McGill Women’s Lacrosse Team is a self-funded program. Players pay dues and participate in fundraising events. Our largest expense is travel as the majority of our games are played outside of Quebec. Financial support is provided annually by the SSMU Campus Life Fund, the Alumni Association Alma Mater Fund, and our own alumni, family, and friends.
Starting Thursday, September 1st until mid-October.
Mondays to Fridays: 6:30 to 8:15am
NOTE: Lacrosse in Canadian universities is a FALL SPORT.
Please refer to the McGill Women's Lacrosse Fall Calendar 2011 [.pdf] for our Fall 2011 Schedule.
We compete against teams in Ontario (OUA league) and in the US (WCLA league – fall ball). Games are played on weekends only, 2-3 games per weekend. The McGill team travels to games in coach buses and will spend the night in a hotel when necessary.
