ADVISORY: re. Quebec's tuition increase and protests

Despite on-going student protests about rising tuition fees, please be advised that McGill will start the fall semester on Sept. 4, 2012, as scheduled. McGill has designed special provisions to ensure that most of the affected CEGEP students - presently estimated to be about 330 individuals - should be able to begin the fall term on time.


Kompon becomes fourth Redmen grad to coach in Stanley Cup finals

When the Los Angeles Kings eliminated Phoenix 4-3 in overtime Tuesday, it paved the way for a fourth former McGill University hockey player to coach in the Stanley Cup finals. Kings assistant coach Jamie Kompon, a 45-year-old native of Thunder Bay, Ont., follows in the footsteps of other Redmen McGill hockey grads, Mike Babcock and the legendary Patrick brothers -- Frank and Lester.

Nomads grad off to McGill

It’s not every day a graduate of the North Winnipeg Nomads gets recruited to play football at a CIS school. That’s why the program couldn’t be more proud that a star offensive lineman from their midget team, Jordan Medal, is off to play for the McGill Redmen in Montreal this fall.

McGill explores possible move to OUA football league in 2013

McGill University has applied to play in the Ontario University Athletics football conference, which, if accepted, would move the Redmen from the Quebec league to Ontario by 2013, the team’s 133rd season on the gridiron.

Water shut down in the Sports Centre

Water will be shut off in the "old wing" of the Sports Centre from 16h00 Thursday May 24 to 10h00 Friday May 25.

New On-Line Reservation Service for Squash and Tennis starting May 1

Starting Tuesday May 1, McGill staff and students will be able to reserve squash and tennis courts on-line. This new 24/7 service is easy to use and free of charge.

FITNESS CENTRE RENOVATION SCHEDULE

As of April 7, 2012 we will be preparing for the start of renovations to the Fitness Centre. Equipment will be relocated to alternate facilities which will be available to all Fitness Centre members.
