Arts Internship Program 2011 Newsletter

The Faculty of Arts Internship Office is pleased to announce this year's recipients of summer internship awards. Through the Faculty of Arts Internship Awards and the Arts Undergraduate Research Internship Awards (ARIA), 119 students received over $275,000 in funding in 2011.

The Faculty of Arts Internship Program provides opportunities for Arts students to gain firsthand experience in their field of study. During the summer of 2009, more than 200 Arts undergraduate and graduate students will complete internships in over 20 disciplines spanning 5 continents and 35 countries. Of these students, over 60 were selected to receive Internship Awards to help defer the costs of their summer internships.

The Faculty of Arts Internship Program provides opportunities for Arts students to gain firsthand experience in their field of study. During the summer of 2008, 225 Arts undergraduate and graduate students will complete internships in over 20 disciplines spanning 5 continents and 35 countries. Of these students, 49 were selected to receive Internship Awards to help defer the costs of their summer internships.

The Faculty of Arts Internship Program is a leading example of how the Faculty is committed to ensuring that our students are provided with every possible opportunity to make the most of their undergraduate years. The summer of 2004 marked the first year of the program. That summer, over 50 students from 10 fields interned in over 50 organizations in 16 countries. This past summer saw over 150 students from 14 fields intern in 100 organizations in 31 countries spread over four continents.

Just over four years old, but now firmly established and burgeoning beyond all expectations, the Faculty of Arts Internship Program was established in response to the need for students to obtain some practical experience in their field prior to graduation. A quintessential interdisciplinary endeavour, the Arts Internship Program attracts students from the myriad and disparate departments that make up the Faculty of Arts.

In December 2002, the Faculty of Arts Internship Program was established with a mandate to develop connections and to forge contacts with potential host organizations, to provide both undergraduate and graduate students in Arts with the tools necessary to identify what internships are available to them and to determine which of those are best suited to their particular educational needs and career objectives. In collaboration with departments and programs in the Faculty, the Internship Office strives to ensure that every undergraduate and graduate student who wishes to will be able to profit from the internship experience.
