Post-Internship Debriefing Session
September 7 and September 8, 12:00-1:00pm. Leacock 927.
All interns (outside of Canada, the US and Europe) are required to participate in one of the debriefing sessions hosted by the Faculty of Arts Internship Office following the completion of their internship. This session is a follow-up to the Cross Cultural Workshop. The session will focus on the return to McGill after an international experience. Topics covered will include reverse culture shock, challenges of reintegration, and ways of taking account of your experience by discussing what skills you may have gained, and how your perspectives may have changed. This is also an excellent opportunity to share experiences with fellow interns.

This is a mandatory meeting for all students completing summer internships administered by the Arts Internship Office. This is a chance to ask any questions you may have regarding your internship and to meet your fellow interns. Past interns will also be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

Cross-Cultural Workshop
March 21, 4:30-8:30pm. Leacock 232.
The workshop will cover themes such as strategies to improve cross-cultural communication, professional and social behavior, country context and its impact on professional and personal objectives, stages of adaptation and managing the stress of culture shock, as well as health and safety. This is a mandatory workshop for all AIO and ION interns, AIO award applicants, and any Arts student receiving academic credit for an internship (interning outside of Canada, Western Europe, and the U.S.)

Internship Workshop: Success in a Professional Environment, Presented by YES Montreal
April 18, 10:00am-12:00pm. 666 Sherbrooke Street West, Suite 700.
This session will offer invaluable advice for internships in an office environment:

  •     Get tips on how to prepare before the start of your internship
  •     Learn how to avoid common mistakes and have a successful internship
  •     Improve your interpersonal communication in an office environment
  •     Learn how to use LinkedIn to your advantage

This workshop is made possible through the generous support of the Faculty of Arts Tarr-Chevrefils Student Advising Fund. This is a mandatory workshop for all AIO and ION interns.

Reception for Award Recipients
April 20, 4:00-6:00pm. Leacock Terrace.
A reception to celebrate all award recipients. During this session, we will also discuss the responsibilities of Arts Interns and Award Recipients, as well as explain the forms students must submit. This is a mandatory reception for all AIO, ARIA, and ION award recipients.
