In 2011, the Faculty of Arts Internship Awards, funded through the generous support of McGill alumni provided funding to 83 Arts undergraduate and graduate students to intern with an organization working in their field of study. Student interns who get an opportunity to live and work in foreign locales such as Panama, India and various African countries are exposed to new and challenging situations that force them to think critically and put their ideas into practice. These experiences enrich their lives and in some cases change the course of their academic pursuits and future careers. Internships help students become better global citizens and develop greater cultural literacy.
Participants have been universally thrilled and transformed by the real-life experiences and they give back to the University by attending the annual Arts Internship Event each fall, where they share the highlights and challenges of their internships and discuss how they have shaped their future academic and career goals. Since the programs’ inception in 2004, more than 1000 students have interned in 45 different countries on 5 continents.
Thank you for your generous support of the Arts Internship Program.
