The values listed below are not the grades that will be required for
admission in September 2012.
Rather, they are the lowest grades used for admission for September 2011;
grades that are equal to
or better than those listed do not guarantee admission for September 2012.
Admission to McGill is competitive and subject to availability of space. As
such, minimum grades for entry may fluctuate up
or down in any given year.
United States high school applications are reviewed for admission based on McGill’s own calculation of the admission average. All grade 10, 11 and 12 academic results are taken into consideration. Depending on the program to which you have applied, certain prerequisite courses must be included; more information is available on our website. All grades for prerequisite grade 10, 11 and 12 courses are taken into consideration, including any grades for failed or repeated courses. In the case of a repeated course, McGill generally averages the grades for all attempts. Note that McGill’s calculation of the admission average may vary from those used at other institutions.
U.S. high school applicants must provide strong standardized test scores in addition to their high school record. Either the SAT I plus two appropriate SAT II subject tests or the ACT can be provided. Please see below for minimum test score requirements. ‡
