Admissions Standards - Ontario High School

Admissions standards for September 2012 - Ontario High School Students

The values listed below are not the grades that will be required for admission in September 2013. Rather, they are the lowest grades used for admission for September 2012; grades that are equal to or better than those listed do not guarantee admission for September 2013. Admission to McGill is competitive and subject to availability of space. As such, minimum grades for entry may fluctuate up or down by as much as 5% in any given year.

McGill’s calculation of the “Top 6”

Ontario high school applications are reviewed based on McGill’s own calculation of the "top six" pre-university (4U and 4M) course average. A minimum of six 4U and 4M courses are required for admission; at least four of these required courses, as well as all prerequisite courses, must be taken at the 4U level. Depending on the program to which you have applied, certain prerequisite courses must be included; more information is available on our website. The calculation of the admission average will include many performing arts courses, but will exclude most applied/technical courses. Note that McGill’s calculation of the admission average may vary from those at other institutions.
