Assistant Professor (Special Category)

Person appointed to a conditional non-renewable pre-tenure track unranked appointment which, on the fulfillment of the condition within the term of the appointment, leads to a tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor.

The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Tenure Track and Tenured Academic Staff (RRETAS) govern this academic classification.

Joint Appointment Possible? "Joint" status associated with the tenure-track conversion cannot be indicated using the Assistant Professor (Special Category) position, instead:
(i) use an Associate Member appointment in Banner
(ii) indicate joint affiliations via the Labour Distribution on the ARC### position code
 
Recommended Minimum Credentials ABD (all but dissertation) PhD degree in progress at time of appointment, or other conditions RRETAS-6.5.1

Salary Minima Must meet established minimum.
Normally the Assistant Professor rank minima is used unless appointed as "nil salary".
