Visiting Librarian

Visiting Librarian (non-tenure-track academic staff)

Visiting Librarian staff consist of those persons who are so described in their official letter of appointment.

A Visiting Librarian staff member shall be a librarian visiting the University who holds a librarian rank or the equivalent at his or her own university or institution. (Regulations Relating to Employment of Librarian Staff, Article 7.2)

Visiting staff are not eligible for tenure. (Regulations Relating to Employment of Librarian Staff, Article 7.5)

Visiting Librarian staff shall be appointed for an initial term not exceeding 1 year and may be reappointed for further periods provided that the appointment and reappointments do not exceed in aggregate three years.(Regulations Relating to Employment of Librarian Staff, Article 7.4)

For appointment at McGill to a "Visiting" classification, proof of current affiliation from the home university/institution must be included with the appointment form.
