An unranked contractual appointment. Appointee will have a doctoral degree, or alternately shall have an equivalent degree and research experience. Appointed to conduct research independently or as a member of a research team.

The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Contract Academic Staff (CAS) govern this academic classification. Note: Research Associates are unionized as of July 2010. The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Contract Academic Staff remain effective for this classification in the interim period until a collective agreement is reached.
