Course Lecturer (unionized academic staff)

A person appointed on a contractual course-by-course basis to teach one or more courses.

The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Contract Academic Staff (CAS) govern this academic classification.

Course Lecturers unionized as of August 2011.

Note:
The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Contract Academic Staff remain effective for this classification in the interim period until a collective agreement is reached.

Appointment Type Contract Academic Staff, Unranked, not eligible for tenure. Appointed via the Course Lecturer Contract on a course-by-course basis CAS-2.5, CAS-4.1, and CAS-7.1.1

Recommended Minimum Credentials Minimum credentials necessary to teach in the field being taught (usually Masters or equivalent)

Salary Minima Must meet established Minimum Salary Minima
Work Permit Required for all non-Canadians, with the exception of Permanent Residents of Canada  
Official Letter of Appointment None. The Course Lecturer Contract suffices (any additional letter of appointment is at the discretion of the Dean/Chair)
