Associate Professor (contract academic staff)

Contractual appointment conferred on CAS Assistant Professors or on new appointees who are judged to have met the appropriate criteria for this rank. Appointees are expected to devote themselves to academic duties assigned by their chair/dean, reflected by a "descriptor" in parenthesis to their rank. Appointees are not eligible for consideration for tenure.

The Regulations Relating to the Employment of Contract Academic Staff (CAS) govern this academic classification.

Appointment Type Contract Academic Staff, Ranked, not eligible for tenure CAS-2.5, CAS-4.1, and CAS-5.7.2
Additional Qualifiers May be appointed "Clinical Contract Academic Staff" in the Faculty of Medicine Clinical CAS (GFT-H)

Initial Appointment Term For duration of not more than 3 years CAS-5.6.1
Joint Appointment Possible? Must be Associate Professor in both units.
If joint is not appropriate, use Associate Member for any secondary academic appointments
Recommended Minimum Credentials PhD degree or equivalent. (Post doctoral experience or equivalent may also be required.)

Salary Minima Must meet established salary minimum unless appointed as "nil-salary" Salary Minima

Part-time staff: optional
minimum 9 month appointment with minimum salary $25,000/annum
