Academic Salary Data

As part of McGill’s commitment to transparency in academic salary policy matters, and in order to promote constructive discussions regarding salary policies, the University first released aggregate salary data for tenure stream appointments, as well as full-time Faculty Lecturer positions, in individual faculties in 2004, based on data for a one-year period ending Jan 31st.

In 2010 the reporting period was changed to report for a one-year period ending Oct 31st (however, 2010 includes both old and new reporting periods, and thus two reports are available). 

For each Faculty, and for the McGill Libraries, the following data are presented by rank: the 25th percentile, median and 75th percentile salaries, and the average number of years since the highest degree for the professors in each one of the four quartiles. To protect confidentiality, these data have not been presented in categories where the population is too low.

These data do not include salaries from tenure stream clinical staff positions or stipends from administrative appointments.
