From the President of the MAA

Dear alumni, parents and friends of McGill,

Having been a volunteer with the McGill Alumni Association for over a decade, I have seen first-hand the incredible loyalty that fellow graduates have for our alma mater, and how that loyalty translates into much-appreciated support for the university and the many needs of our students and faculty.

Whenever I attend McGill events, I am always struck by an incredible sense of pride; not only in McGill for its well-deserved reputation as one of the world’s finest universities, but also in our accomplished alumni, exceptional students, and the parents, supporters and friends who make up the extended McGill family.

The aim of the McGill Alumni Association is to create a community – one in which every graduate feels involved, engaged, and important. We work hard to connect you with old friends and with the work of the University today, so that you can continue to feel like proud ambassadors for your alma mater.

To help with that goal, the MAA has made great strides in recent years to stay abreast of new technologies, and we’ve incorporated these into our communications initiatives. I’m talking, of course, about social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, as well as blog posts on AL365, YouTube videos, and online discussion forums. These are places to share information, build communities, and give each and every one of you a voice. We encourage graduates, parents and friends to post photos, videos and stories about the University and alumni events. There's no better place to take the pulse of the McGill community!

We are constantly striving to improve your experience as a member of the McGill alumni community. We are always delighted to welcome volunteers who wish to get involved, either at local branch events, or on occasions like Student Send-Offs, Homecoming, or Parents Weekend. We would also love to see you at one of the many events, concerts, lectures, and trips we organize throughout the year. This web site is updated frequently with opportunities to get involved.

All of this is done in the hope that being a part of the McGill Alumni Association will make your life richer and more rewarding – it certainly has for me!
