McGill Alumni Association

The McGill Alumni Association (MAA) is a non-profit organization that brings together a community of engaged, informed alumni and friends to promote and celebrate the achievements of McGill University and support today’s students.

Founded in 1857, the MAA is today a global network of more than 225,000 alumni in 185 countries. Membership is granted automatically upon graduation and no dues are paid. Volunteers from this network serve on the Association’s Board of Directors , as well as on regional alumni branch boards and other volunteer committees, and hundreds more help put on McGill Alumni events held around the world throughout the year.

The MAA is actively involved in University life and governance. Alumni representatives on McGill’s Board of Governors, Senate committees, faculty advisory boards and selection committees for the posts of Principal and Chancellor ensure that this important constituency is represented in University decision-making.

The role of the MAA is to enable alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of McGill to maintain their contact with the University and each other, for their shared benefit and for the advancement of McGill.

Graduates can stay connected and engaged through the many alumni branch events and activities, McGill’s annual Homecoming in the fall, and the online resources and social media activity offered by McGill Development and Alumni Relations.

The MAA also makes recommendations for honorary degree recipients, and each year it recognizes outstanding McGill volunteers and loyal supporters at the Honours and Awards Banquet.
