McGill from the parent's perspective

Welcome to the McGill Parents Association portal! As the mother, father, grandparent or guardian of a McGill student, you are a vital part of the University's diverse community.

A wealth of opportunities exists for both you and your student to become active members of our community, through a number of programs that the Parents Association has designed specifically for you. We hope you will consider getting involved in some of the activities we offer. It promises to be a rewarding experience for both for you and the University.

Our story

The McGill Parents Association was founded in 1963 to offer families of McGill students an added way to participate in the life of the University. Today, it aims to:

• Serve as a resource for parents on all McGill matters, helping you access the many services our institution offers;
• Establish closer relationships between the University and the many McGill parents who are not themselves McGill graduates;
• Offer information about McGill and the services it provides to students and their families;
• Encourage parents to support McGill financially through the McGill Parents Fund.

Register with the Parents Association – it's free!

All parents, guardians and grandparents of students registered in undergraduate, graduate and professional courses can become members of the McGill Parents Association – all you have to do is fill out our registration form. Membership is free and has a wide range of benefits. Learn more >>

Get involved

There are many ways for parents to take on a more active role in the McGill community, including by:

• Participating in activities offered to parents at McGill and around the world;
• Becoming a member of your local chapter of our International Parents Council, and;
• Contributing your voice and perspective for other members of the McGill community to read, whether by acting as a guest blogger on our social media portal, Alumni Live 365, by joining one of our online communities or submitting your McGill pictures for us to post on our Flickr page.
