McGill offers students access to a variety of advisors, mentors and counsellors with different backgrounds and expertise. For example, a faculty advisor is available to discuss matters concerning a student’s specific degree program. Alternatively, a departmental advisor can give your student advice about matters relating to their major or minor. Finally, a peer advisor, a trained senior undergraduate student, can provide advice regarding academics in general.

Visit this page to learn more about each category of advisors and what sets them apart from one another.

Student Affairs Offices also provide assistance to students within their own faculties on matters such as faculty policies and procedures, general academic information, advice about degree requirements, registration, course changes or withdrawals, exams, important dates, studying abroad, transfer credits, grading procedures, academic standing and graduation.
