As unique as your family

Every parent has a different perspective on how and to what degree they want to get involved in the McGill community. Whether you wish to volunteer at events in your region, share your experiences with other McGill parents in person or online, or interact on a Facebook group, the possibilities are plentiful. Keep reading for some of the ways you can increase your involvement.

International Parents Council

For McGill parents around the world who are interested in taking on a more active role, we welcome your involvement in the International Parents Council (IPC). Members of this advisory group serve as a link between McGill and other parents who live in their communities. Acting as ambassadors to the University, they meet to discuss matters of common interest, bring forward any concerns to the Parents Association and help plan activities and events.

Currently, there are eight IPC committees: Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Boston, Washington, D.C., the Tri-State area around New York City, and France. But we’re always on the lookout for more volunteers in new regions. Need some advice?

While your son or daughter is at McGill, it’s inevitable that from time to time you’ll have questions. Sometimes it will be a University staff member who can provide the answers, but other times you would rather hear an “unofficial” opinion. That’s why we created IPC Connect, a program that brings parents together, often in the same region, to share ideas and information.
