Tomasz Grusiecki

Tomasz Grusiecki is a PhD Candidate in Art History working under the supervision of Professor Angela Vanhaelen. His broad area of research is the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century visual culture of central Europe (particularly Poland-Lithuania, and the Holy Roman Empire—including Bohemia) in its pan-European, trans-cultural and global ramifications. In his dissertation, entitled Globalising the Periphery: Poland-Lithuania and its Artistic Exchange with the World, 1587-1668, Tomasz traces a number of trans-cultural mediations of forms, ideas and technologies, which are at odds with the prevalent nation-centric framework for discussing artefacts.
