Molly Sauter is a Vanier Scholar and doctoral student in Communication Studies at McGill University in Montreal and holds a masters degree in Comparative Media Studies from MIT. Her research focuses on the sociopolitical analysis of Internet law and regulation and the political philosophy of technology. Her dissertation isn on the political philosophy of disrupted and disfunctional ICT spaces. She is the author of The Coming Swarm: DDoS Actions, Hacktivism, and Civic Disobedience on the Internet(Bloomsbury, 2014), and her research has appeared in The Atlantic, the Case Western Reserve Journal of International Law, and American Behavioral Scientist, among other venues. She is a 2015-2016 Cybersecurity Fellow at New American in Washington DC. She is a research affiliate at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University and the Center for Civic Media at the MIT Media Lab.
