1.1 This policy applies to all regular, full-time staff who have completed their probationary period.
1.2 For the purpose of this policy, “full-time” shall refer to an employee working 2/3 or more of the normal working hours of his/her classification, as defined in the Hours of Work policy.
This policy applies to all regular non-unionized non-academic staff.
The McGill Employee Assistance Program
McGill’s EAP is a free, strictly confidential, personal counseling and
referral service for you and your immediate family members.
The service is strictly confidential according to law. No information may be
given out about you without your knowledge and written permission. Anyone
using the program is assured of the strictest privacy. Whatever you discuss
with a counselor is kept absolutely confidential.
The University is subject to the Quebec Act respecting Industrial Accidents and Occupational Diseases, which provides that all accidents sustained by employees during working hours, must be reported to the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST).
Since the well-being of members of staff and harmonious work relationships are of concern to the University, it is important that any dispute which an employee may have be dealt with as quickly and fairly as possible. In accordance with this, the following procedure is to be followed:

The immigration regulations concerning the employment of non-Canadians, in part, reads as follows:
- All non-Canadians must either be permanent residents or possess an employment authorization before they start work. In most cases, employment authorization, and in all cases, permanent residence visas must be obtained before arriving in Canada.
Calculation of service shall continue without interruption for employees covered by the certification dated November 24, 1994 (Clerical, Technical and Library Assistants) who have become or shall become non-unionized, non-academic staff.
Effective January 8, 1996
Non-academic staff, as a consequence of their special expertise, may be asked from time to time to assist in the teaching of undergraduate or graduate students. When non-academic staff are asked to assist in the academic work of the University, the following guidelines shall apply:
1. Teaching, in the context of academic duties, involves full responsibility for the development, delivery, evaluation and grade reporting of an approved course.
